Joe Bendik & The Heathens

"Displays a remarkable studio judgment which rivals Todd Rundgren in it's facility & Bob Mould in it's delivery " -(Mark Keating) -Sound Views

"One of the top talents of our time" -(Rick Siegel! -Online TV

"Joe Bendik, who makes the Energizer BDY look like a slow lazy slug on a hangover day, erupts on stage and pogoes into his signature solo acoustic punk blaze of shake, rattle, roll and shout, bellow, shiver, freak and stomp, stunning the unwary and roaring into the unkempt afternoon" - (Linus Gelber) -MusicDish (describing the Summer Antifolk Fest 2000 ~ Tompkins Square Park)

"A true embodiment of the sound and attitude of the more aggressive end of the Antispectrum" -Lach

Joe Bendik moved from Western PA to NYC in '86 with his band "Folk You" and soon gravitated to the Antifolk scene. As one of the earliest practitioners of Antifolk, Bendik played gigs with Lach, The Moldy Peaches, Jeffrey Lewis, Beck, John S. Hall Missile, Michelle Shocked & Paleface; sharing a sensibility and sense of community not heard from since NYC's mid 70's punk hey-day.
