8 30 JOE BUZFUZ
“Dark wit and acute observation…Joe Buzfuz is the executioner’s Billy Bragg” (Oppositiont.co.uk)

9 15 KEVIN HEWICK
Ex-Factory and Cherry Red Records songer. Read the Articles page on his site for the story of his recording sessions with Martin Hannett and ‘backing band’ Hook, Albrecht and Morris in June 1980 and the rumour that, unbeknownst to him, this may have been a singer audition for their new incarnation. And how he bombed his chances by twice annoying Bernard. The resulting “Haystacks” sounded like Kevin Ayers waking up and stumbling around the kitchen backed by a hungover Joy Division and is quite magnificent. But while New Order get MORe and MORe Virgin FM Kev just gets more Resonance. After years in a “black hole period” he’s returned to writing and playing in his native Leicester, sometimes aided and abetted by Lee (Misterlee) Allatson on drums. Who else can claim to have supported Joy Division and Showaddywaddy? A star is reborn.

10 00 KINKAJOU
Hey kids, it’s time for some Celtic noir! Kinkajou are fronted by Polly MacLean who breathes ice and fire into her goddamn beautiful songs which are like Jacques Brel dreaming on Highland Malt.

10
45 THEE NEERLYMEN Promoters of Preston’s ace Bad Apple Club, Thee Neerlymen travel a sparsely lit crooked highway somewhere between The Silver Jews and Smog. Lo-fi and spooky.

11 30 J J CRASH AND THE LIPS
With The Lips on harmonica and JJ on guitar and Cockney suburbs twang this is late night bluesy antifolk with a punk soul.
